    6 Top Benefits of IVF

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) has many benefits for a couple with infertility problems. It is possibly the number one procedure that many couples and individuals turn to when they are faced with fertility issues. While there are, of course, many other options besides IVF, this procedure is definitely the most talked-about among other similar treatments. So, what are the benefits of IVF? Keep reading to find out.

    1. Anyone can use it

IVF is not limited to the mother of the baby. The procedure can also be used by gestational or surrogate carriers. This means that a range of people can experience pregnancy and labor, as well as participate in parenthood. This may include women who are physically unable to carry a baby, single women, or same-sex couples. Therefore, IVF can bring happiness to a lot of people.

    1. Gives you control of your biological clock

Some people want to focus on their careers or educations first, others have unique life situations. For these reasons, they may want to ‘delay’ having a baby and find that IVF gives them more control. Women are constantly in a race with their biological clock, with IVF, eggs or embryos can be preserved for future use. You can choose the exact time when you want and are ready to be pregnant. In addition, IVF can also help with spacing out births that work best for you and your family.

    1. Increases the chances of having a healthy baby

During IVF, genetic screening can be used to help make sure your baby is healthy. This genetic screening, referred to as preimplantation genetic testing (PGT), ensure the fetuses used in IVF are free of genetic disorders, including life-threatening conditions such as Down syndrome, cystic fibrosis, Tay Sachs disease, and sickle cell anemia. The tests are not done randomly. Instead, it is performed when the mother and/or the father test positively for these medical conditions, or if there is a family history of serious genetic diseases.

    1. Allows you to use donated eggs and/or sperm

Sometimes, a fertility specialist may suggest patients use donated eggs and/or sperm. This works by manually fertilizing the eggs, and as a result, a feasible embryo is used for IVF and increases the chances of getting pregnant at the first or second try.

    1. Works when other options fail

Although IVF is very popular, many people often choose other fertility treatments before they try IVF. However, there are certain cases where IVF is the only option, such as severe male infertility, blocked fallopian tubes, and advanced maternal age. In these cases, choosing IVF as the first option will save you a lot of time and money.

    1. Reduces the chances of miscarriage

The genetic abnormality is the most common cause of miscarriage as it causes your body to naturally terminate a pregnancy. However, since PGT is often utilized during IVF, the genetic viability of an embryo can be determined ahead of time, thus giving the mother a higher chance of having a healthy pregnancy and carrying the baby full-term. IVF combined with PGT offers the highest success rate among other assisted reproductive treatments. To increase a woman’s chances of fertilization, healthy pregnancy, and healthy baby, multiple cycles can be performed if necessary.
