All-on-8 is a dental implant solution for people who need to replace a significant number of teeth (more than 80% of their teeth). The main idea behind All-on-8 dental implants is to use 8 implants onto which permanent teeth prosthesis or bridge is attached, so there is no need for individual implants for each tooth.

    What Does the Procedure Involve?

The procedure begins by evaluating and scanning to assess the anatomical structures of your mouth. Then, your dentist will make impressions to create the teeth. Once the dental prosthesis is made, your dentist will place eight implants in either the lower or upper jawbone or both. These implants will anchor the prosthetic teeth in place permanently.

How Long Should You Stay in the Area?

If you undergo same-day treatment, the recommended length of stay in the local area is around a week. However, some dentists require 2 to 3 appointments to complete the procedure with about two weeks, 4 months apart between each appointment.

How Long is the Recovery Time?

The total recovery period may take around six to eight weeks, but you may be able to go back to work within 4 days if your job is not physically demanding.

    What Aftercare Should You Consider?

For the first couple of days after the procedure, make sure to rest as much as possible to let your body heal. Avoid any strenuous activities, including vigorous exercises, and pay attention to your daily diet. To maintain your new set of teeth, make sure you brush your teeth properly at least twice a day, floss (your dentist will tell you how to floss the new teeth properly), and use an antibacterial mouthwash daily.

What is the Success Rate for All-On-8 Procedure?

Like other All-on dental implants, All-on-8 dental implants are effective, permanent, and almost always successful. The success rate is more than 90%, but there are some side effects and risks, such as swelling, persistent bleeding, discoloration, dry lips, sore throat, stiff muscles, implants that do not integrate with your bone, and sharp sensations in your mouth.

Are there Alternatives to an All-On-8 Procedure?

For people who cannot undergo All-On-8 dental implants, their alternative includes traditional dentures. You can also discuss with your dentist if you should get All-On 2, All-On-4, and All-On-6 dental implants instead.

What Should You Expect Before and After the Procedure?

Before getting All-On-8, you probably have lost most of your teeth, making it hard for you to chew and very uneasy smiling. After an All-On-8, you will have a natural-looking and healthy set of teeth that will give you a beautiful smile and face shape. Your chewing function will also be greatly improved, so you can enjoy the food you used to enjoy before you lost most of your teeth.
